
Mosher, James Cecil “Jim” – 84, of South Farmington, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville after a brief illness. Born in Yarmouth on February 7, 1939, he was a son of the late Cecil A. and Harriet L. “Hattie” (Horton) Mosher. He proudly attended Acadia University where he obtained his teaching degree, was a Varsity basketball player, and met his wife of more than 60 years: Judith “Judy” (Roop) Mosher. Jim and Judy moved to the Middleton area where he taught at West Kings and Middleton Regional High Schools. During this time, he refereed high school, provincial, and inter-provincial basketball and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and Commanding Officer of the Atlantic Regional Air Cadet Camp, CFB, Greenwood. Upon retirement from 35 years of teaching, he became an active volunteer in health care, serving on the Health Board for Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Annapolis Valley District Health Authority, NSAHO Board of Pension Trustees, Valley Senior Safety, and the SMH Foundation. Jim is survived by his wife Judy; children, Jan, Susan (Stan), Chris (Cami), and Jeff (Melissa); sister, Ann (Donald) MacVicar; grandchildren, Brett, Courtnay, Jonah, Jocelyn, Dylan, and Alexia. He was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis F. Mosher and son-in-law, William S. Curtis. A memorial service will take place at a later date in Middleton Baptist Church.
